A trendy neighborhood on the rise
This neighborhood is one of the oldest in Montreal, and saw the construction of the beautiful Lachine Canal that is now a major attraction in the city. Major real estate developments, film production houses, and technical companies have begun to pop up everywhere. Alongside these businesses are many new restaurants, boutiques, and trendy cafes to enjoy. This neighborhood is equally split between French and English speakers, and is home to many young professionals.

Trendy!
Griffintown is being totally gentrified right now so there are tons of new condos going up. Other than the condos there are lots of cool loft buildings where artists typically live. It’s nice to hang on on the Lachine Canal…Griffintown Cafe is delicious!

Upcoming neighborhood in Montreal
When I moved to Griffintown a few years ago it had just a few condos and small antique shops. Over the past years, the neighborhood grew so fast and many new condos were added. With the new population moving in, a lot of new businesses opened doors which made Griffintown one of the most attractive areas for young professionals moving to Montreal. On Notre-dame street you will find trendy restaurants, bars and shops. On the south of the area you will find the Lachine Canal park and bike path. Another great thing about Griffintown is that is very close to downtown and Old Montreal but it is a lot quieter.

A testament of cool urban living
Never a dull moment in Griffintown these days! With new condos, new businesses, and new dining options popping up each week, the area attracts the young (and young at heart) professional crowd. Those with an active and healthy lifestyle enjoy the area’s cycle paths and newly refreshed Canal Lachine as well as a rejuvenating walk to the city centre.
