There were 4,919 residential properties sold through the Centris® system in Québec in August 2013, a slight 1 per cent decrease compared to August 2012 and the thirteenth consecutive monthly drop in sales. This province-wide decrease was mainly due to the performance of the Saguenay, Sherbrooke and Gatineau Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs), where sales fell by 35, 7 and 7 per cent, respectively. Together, the areas located outside of the CMAs registered a 6 per cent decrease in sales. The Trois-Rivières, Québec City and Montréal CMAs registered increases in sales of 14, 5 and 3 per cent, respectively.
The supply of properties for sale continued to increase in August 2013, as close to 70,000 residential properties were listed on the Centris® system, an 11 per cent increase compared to August of last year.
Finally, the median price of single-family homes increased by 2 per cent in August 2013 to reach $222,000.
